This page lists the people contributing their time and efforts to Tel'Laerad, and their roles on Tel'Laerad. These are the people to thank for the good and curse for the bad.

Staff Hierarchy

Owners

The role of the owners is to ensure the whole of Tel'Laerad is growing, developing, and improving in line with their vision, the collective vision of the staff, and the desires of the users.

They also have the related role of correcting any problems that arise within it, overriding and/or amending any policies and previous decisions that cause Tel'Laerad to fail to meet its goals and serve its users. - They thus are given the ability to plan for Tel'Laerad, make final decisions on matters of significance or disagreement, and authorise changes of significance to Tel'Laerad's services, changes to the organisation, and changes to the staffing, thus serving as long/middle-term management. They also have access to all parts of Tel'Laerad, and the ability to dictate short-term actions when they choose.

Bureaucracy

The bureaucracy of Tel'Laerad handles short-term management, both in terms of staff management and project management, as well as record-keeping. The bureaucracy has only one position, the Bureaucrat-in-Chief, whose job is to define the mechanisms by which the bureaucracy's functions operate, with approval from the Owners where it involves staff guideline or other external changes, and either perform or delegate all bureaucratic work.

They have the ability to give short-term instructions to staff, but no other special abilities.

General Staff

All other staff are hierarchically equal. Access to areas of Tel'Laerad is given based on membership in teams, or directly granted by the Owners, as needed or useful.

Honorary Staff

Honorary staff exist as exceptional cases, agreed by all founders. They may be staff on an organisation helping or related to Tel'Laerad.

Staff Teams

The staff as a whole, separate to the simple hierarchy, possess a number of teams. A team is a a group of staff working on a specific area of the network. Every team has a specific area they cover, a title for its members, and a set of powers for its members. Some teams have their own meetings and To-Do lists. Not all work, or even most of the work a person does essentially is part of the role of one of their teams; it simply indicates that this is some part of their work.

Teams are split into core and secondary members. Core members are expected to generally attend meetings for the team, and may have particular expectations on the work they do based on team membership. Secondary members are staff who do not meet these conditions, whose work simply touches on the area, or who occasionally contribute to it, and thus benefit from the access given by the team but do not have the responsibilities of core members.

IRC Operations

This team covers the work of supporting users, enforcing rules, relinking servers and operating the running IRC network. The title of any staff member on this team would be "IRC Operator".

Staff on the IRC Operations team possess operator powers on the IRC network.

IRC Maintenance and Development

Abbreviated to IRC M&D or just M&D, this team covers the work of configuring and maintaining the configuration of the IRC network, and developing and implementing changes to the IRC network, including bots and services. The official title for any member of this group is "IRC Coder", although a given staff member's role may not involve coding.

IRC M&D has its own meeting, and thus its own section of To-Do.

Staff on the IRC M&D team possess access to all IRC server accounts. Membership of IRC M&D implies at least secondary membership of IRC Operations.

Open Positions

We at Tel'Laerad are currently interested in hiring:

New artists or designers.
New coders for both the IRC M&D team and website development. Experience in C, C++, Perl, Python, PHP, JavaScript, CSS design, or SQL is useful, but ability and willingness to learn a language would be acceptable.

If you are interested in being a part of helping Tel'Laerad grow and become the most reliable, best supported locale for roleplayers, gamers, and general chat, with the best features, then feel free to apply. Hiring usually requires us to know you beforehand, and to believe that you can follow our Staff Guidelines, and thus most hires have historically been initiated by the existing staff, but active interest coupled with the time and will to contribute will be considered very favourably.

Staff Alumni

This section records people who are either former Tel'Laerad staff, or are on an extended hiatus or other break.

On Hiatus

Staff on hiatus are staff who have had to step out of staff for an extended vacation or due to other circumstances that prevent them from being able to contribute. An assumption is made that they wish to return at some point, possibly many months later, and some rough date is recorded. They retain active access to staff resources, and can generally assume their previous role or the closest open alternative when they once again have the ability and desire to contribute. Staff on hiatus who find themselves unable to return become former staff.

Falerin - Busy with offline issues, return date unknown; perhaps fall 2010.

Former Staff

This is the list of those who have previously put their time and effort towards Tel'Laerad, but are no longer staff, including those who simply do not have the time to spare any more. Thanks go to everyone in this list for their work; we would not be where we are without any of them.
